US/MI/Lansing – The attorney for accused serial killer Matthew Macon tries to get his clients’ trial moved to another county. It’s a case that captured mid-Michigan’s attention this summer. Matthew Macon is suspected of brutally attacking six women. He’s now set to stand trial in three of those cases. His attorney requested that Macons’ trial be moved out of Ingham County because he believes media coverage has tainted potential jurors. Judge William Collette denied a motion to move the murder trials. He told the prosecution and the defense that if the county could pick a jury for the high profile trial of Tim and Lisa Holland, he’s confident it can find one for Matthew Macon.

US/MI/Kalamazoo – A second life prison sentence has been given to a confessed serial killer, this time for slaying a Western Michigan University student more than three decades ago.
Kalamazoo County Circuit Judge Gary C. Giguere Jr. sentenced Coral Eugene Watts, 53, on Thursday for the 1974 stabbing death of 19-year-old Gloria Steele. Watts made some brief comments about abortion during his sentencing hearing, while the victim’s mother and daughter spoke about losing Steele, the court said. Read More »

US/MI/Lansing – By the time Matthew E. Macon pleaded guilty at age 14 to sexually assaulting a girl with a stick, he had seen a lot of violence.
Court documents reveal that Macon’s father was violent and abusive. His older sister was placed in foster care in 1983 after her father was accused of sexually abusing her.
Then, by age 16, at a 1996 Ingham County juvenile court hearing, a court referee said although Macon was making progress in a program for sex offenders, he required “lifetime vigilance.” Read More »

Macon was charged with open murder for the death of Sandra Eichorn. She was found dead in her home just last week. US/MI/Detroit – A convicted serial killer already serving life in prison was sentenced today to another 25 to 50 years behind bars for raping and beating a prostitute who survived his usually deadly attacks.
The formality in Wayne Circuit Court closes the case on Shelly Andre Brooks, a homeless man whom authorities believe killed at least seven prostitutes between August 2001 and June 2006.
